ATLANTA, GA (March 4, 2016) – Wahsega Labs, Inc. (Wahsega), the designer and manufacturer of the highest quality VoIP endpoints in the market, debuted the Wahsega IP 2×2 Ceiling Speaker with InformaCast® and SIP at the BrainStorm Conference in Wisconsin earlier this week.

A gathering of over 1,100 IT professionals in the K-12 industry, the BrainStorm Conference connects Ed Tech peers and vendors from around the country. Wahsega was pleased to introduce these education technology professionals to the latest in a line of smart IP and InformaCast speakers. The newest speaker, which debuted at the Wahsega booth, is a 2×2 ceiling speaker which simultaneously supports both InformaCast and SIP communication protocols. With the Wahsega engineering team’s technological advancements on this 2×2 ceiling speaker, K-12 customers can cut their per-classroom total installation costs by almost half while utilizing the most advanced smart IP speaker on the market today.

The next Wahsega product shown at the BrainStorm Conference was the IP Audio Encoder/Decoder, which sends high quality audio over networks with very low latency for a fluid and enjoyable experience. To demonstrate the Encoder, Wahsega fed a TV source into the device, which then sent the signal over the network to a mobile application that played the audio in real-time on a user’s phone. This type of application is perfect for deployments in large school classrooms and auditoriums where students in the room cannot hear the TV audio. With the Wahsega IP Audio Encoder/Decoder, each student can clearly hear the audio feed through a simple application on his or her mobile device or smart phone. This solution is also used in assisted listening deployments, avoiding the need for expensive proprietary transmitters that require special RF receivers.

William Schmidt, VP of Business Development for Wahsega, was at the conference and said, “I frequently hear from school professionals about poor sounding bells and PA systems or about expensive systems requiring proprietary hardware and software. Wahsega Labs changes the game by using open SIP standards and developing all endpoints with the capability of providing two independent, bi-directional channels of audio—cutting the per-classroom total installation cost nearly in half. The overwhelming positive reception from our customers at BrainStorm and around the country shows a need in the market for our latest next gen IP ceiling speaker solution.”
